A NOVEL LEARNING ADVENTURE FOR LIFE

I know Rick Thyne and have been a long time client and friend. As an author Thyne has done a marvelous job of both developing his characters and integrating them into a cohesive story.

The author is a highly intelligent individual with thousands of hours of counseling and coaching hundreds of people from all walks of life with a multiplicity of backgrounds, motivations, and barriers and Thyne draws on his rich experience as therapist, minister and life coach to create and develop his characters and weave them into a cohesive story and instruction for many of our most difficult questions in life. This book [The Crack Where The Light Gets In] is a fascinating and instructive read.

SURPRISINGLY CANDID, AND ABSOLUTELY FASCINATING

I read this memoir [The Awful Grace of God] last summer, after losing my mom, and while watching my dad get closer and closer to death.

It was old age that took them away, after long and fruitful lives. In the author's case, it was a tragic accident that brought death to their family, and inspired this book. In his memoir, Thyne was surprisingly candid about his life's journey -- his gifts and his challenges, his foibles and his triumphs. It was absolutely fascinating! But to me, the most powerful thread of the story was the aftermath of death, and the ongoing nature of despair. How can anyone live through it? And does God really exist? Really made me think.

THE LIGHT BRINGS INCLUSION, LOVE AND HOPE

Drawing upon his lifetime of experience as both a therapist and pastor, Patrick Thyne has crafted an excellent first-time novel full of relatable characters from diverse genders, ages, races, and religious backgrounds, and with family life issues most of us experience in one way or another.

The story line and dialogue move sharply forward in a believable and understandable way. The characters all hold our interest throughout. In the end, Mr. Thyne teaches us that as broken as we may become, the light still can get in, bringing full inclusion to the family table, together with deep love and hope for the future. [The Crack Where The Light Gets In is] an inspiring book, well worth the read.
